Medical Director
Dr. Matt Wittenrich
Dr. Matt has been a part of Beattie Pet Hospital since 2014. Initially joining the team with the opening of the Stoney Creek location, later becoming part of the Burlington location. He began his journey with the hospitals as a veterinarian and was eventually promoted to the role of Medical Director for all the Beattie locations. Dr. Matt has a special interest in reproductive health and airway surgery, and he is one of only four veterinarians in Canada certified in the OFA RFGS airway assessment for Brachycephalic patients. What he enjoys most about his work is the opportunity to develop long-lasting relationships with both pets and their owners, providing customized care options tailored to each unique need.
Dr. Matt is dedicated to providing high-quality, affordable veterinary care to pets and their owners. His passion for veterinary medicine began in his childhood, growing up on a small farm where he developed a deep love for animals while also experiencing the challenges of providing them with the best care, despite limited financial resources. This sparked his desire to help both pets and their owners in an economically accessible way. He completed his undergraduate pre-veterinary medicine courses at Canisius University in Buffalo before earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2009. Dr. Matt’s professional journey brought him to Beattie Pet Hospital where he was attracted to the hospital's modern approach focused on efficiency and affordability. In addition to his work as a veterinarian, Dr. Matt is passionate about mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals.
Outside of his practice, he enjoys reading, hiking, snorkeling, and spending time with his wife and young daughter. He shares his home with two beloved pets: Jack, a geriatric Domestic Shorthair, and Dandelion, a young American Curl.
