Receptionist

Karen

Karen joined Beattie Pet Hospital in 2024 as a receptionist, bringing her lifelong love for animals to her role. Karen was excited to apply her skills from the Medical Administration program, which she completed at Durham College in 2014.

What Karen loves most about her work is the opportunity to connect with animals and their owners every day. Working on reception allows her to interact with both patients and their families, offering her a chance to sneak in cuddles with the furry friends and get to know everyone by name.

As a pet owner herself, Karen understands how deeply people care for their animals and enjoys being able to relate to clients who want to provide the best care for their pets. The most rewarding part of Karen’s job is seeing patients recover and return to their happy, healthy selves, especially when they are excited to visit the clinic. It's also gratifying to witness animals who were once nervous about coming to the hospital become more comfortable with the experience.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys reading books, knitting, watching movies, and exploring new places. At home, she shares her life with her two 17-year-old Chihuahua sisters, Marjory and Bambi, who are her cherished companions.
